Stand Up Comedy

A seriously fun class for anyone thinking they might have the right stuff to make people laugh. You’ll develop ideas, techniques and the tricks of the trade to work out what works. And you’ll build confidence in a tight-knit and supportive group to finally deliver your very own performance!

Dave Smith debuted as a stand up comic in 1994 at the then Hastings Muncipal Theatre as an NYDS student. He attained a Diploma in Performing Arts (Drama). In 1999, Dave joined forces with Jarrod Baker to form mrs.peacock – a comedy duo that toured NZ for the following 10 years and, in 2007, won the coveted Billy T Award. In 2004 Dave became involved with Class Comedians, a high school comedy initiative run by the NZ Comedy Trust.
