Improvisation

This course will look at creating the self-directed actor. Through improvisation, we'll concentrate on strong characters,great stories and performing with other actors to create works of collective genius. We'll be exploring the world ofLong Form where one idea can become the basis of a 45-minute improvised piece. You're guaranteed to laugh like adrain as you learn to audition better, give fresher, more spontaneous performances in your scripted work, and be betterprepared to create your own material. Your skills of spontaneity, storytelling, movement and listening will get a goodworkout.

Lori Dungey has been an actor, tutor and writer and for over 30 years, specializing in improvisation. She came to Wellington 20 years agofrom Canada for an International Theatresports Tournament and never went back. She is currently in Auckland working as an actor, tutor andCreative Director with ”ConArtists”. She's a 2-time World Theatresports champion, and has performed in improv shows in Canada, Singapore,Fiji, Australia, Germany, and all over NZ. After a successful season at the Adelaide Fringe Festival and the Hamilton Rose Festival with “AustenFound – The Undiscovered Musicals of Jane Austen” (and one spectacular performance in Hawkes Bay) Lori will be taking a turn at the HeraldTheatre in Auckland for the Stamp season.
