Dance & Choreography

Get ready to move and create in this hands-on dance class! In this safe, playful environment you'll learn dance improvisation using games and tools, and explore movement creation and tasking. Led by one of Footnote New Zealand Dance's full time professional company members, you'll get in depth experience direct from the dance industry. 

If you love to dance but you’re not a dancer in your ‘normal’ life, or you sneak in a dance when nobody’s looking, then this is the perfect Afternoon Taster Class.

TUTOR: cecilia wilcox

Cecilia, an artist from Pōneke, has been with Footnote New Zealand Dance since 2022. Growing up in an intensely creative household, Cecilia found her artistic expression through movement at a young age, and in 2019 she graduated from Unitech with a bachelor’s degree in Contemporary Dance. Cecilia uses dance to challenge and extend the perceived limits of the body and in turn the mind. Building relationships of trust with fellow dancers and collaborators is an essential part of her practice. Outside of Footnote Cecilia has worked with a diverse ranch of choreographers such as James Finnemore as a part of B12’s 2024 performance season in Berlin, Sarah Foster-Sproull, Malia Johnston, Tamsyn Russel and Michael Parmenter.
